Forklift Battery Safety
The power to run electric forklifts is supplied by huge industrial batteries that need to be charged frequently and maintained correctly. Safety procedures should be followed when somebody connects the battery to the charger. It is important to inspect battery fluid levels.
PPE - Personal Protective Equipment
It is vital for workers working with a forklift battery to wear eye protection. Other PPG comprise safety glasses, goggles, or a full face shield. The best way to protect clothing and skin from other residue or leaked acid is to put on thick rubber gloves on the hands and an approved apron on the body.
Emergency Eyewash Station
Next to the charging place must be an emergency eyewash post. The route to the post must not be obstructed and an injured worker should be able to go to the eyewash station from the charging place in 10 seconds while walking.
Charger Safety
The charger should be the same amperage as the battery. It should be turned off when the battery is being plugged in.
Open Flames
Open flames are not allowed in the vicinity of a battery and charging area. Never permit objects such as matches or lighters to be utilized while somebody is inspecting the fluid levels in the battery.
Ventilation
It is essential to keep the battery charging place properly ventilated. The recharging method could release fumes. These fumes are both poisonous and explosive.
