How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great ease when using a scissor lift, because the convenience of working and the lift basket's safety gives peace of mind while trying to carry out tasks that could have otherwise required working off the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this equipment make it the right choice for performing jobs from heights.
Nearly all scissor lifts are operated by batteries which are internally mounted in the base of the lift. These batteries have to be charged after a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is a simple task to charge the batteries. This could be done without any specialized tools or equipment and needs no heavy labor.
The equipment has to be parked next to an electrical output so as to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging place must also be in a well-ventilated place. After that, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the big red button situated near the control box or the charger, inside the lift basket. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Often, older models would have the charger mounted on the back of the lift.
Next, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be sure you are charging in an area which is well ventilated and then plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. In order to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any extra length were to drop out of the battery charger storage area while in use, extreme danger can potentially take place.
