Reach Truck
To be able to keep storage areas tidy and to stock up supplies and pallets of goods, a reach truck could be used. The reach truck comes in several types: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The stand-up is the most basic. The forks of the truck slide beneath the pallet and move it to the right storage place. The forks slide the pallet into position. This particular type of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are one pallet in depth.
The double-deep reach truck is similar to the stand-up, but is best for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods. This model has telescopic forks intended to put the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when one more pallet has to go into the same shelving section.
The additional advantage of straddle reaches is that they can both slide beneath the pallet and grasp the sides too. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units could be accessed in multiple directions. This particular model is ideal in conditions where goods would not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
Within the majority of warehouses, there are normally more than one kind of reach truck. Textile firms and manufacturing facilities use different types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to operate and could increase productivity while maximizing available storage space.
